Highlights from Previous Women's 5-1 Tournament
VBmatch will host a 4-week mini-league in October at Alameda Point Gym on Sundays starting October 11, 2009.
To register for the upcoming league, submit your Roster via this Online Form and then reserve a spot by paying a deposit via the online payment button below -OR- by mailing a check. The actual entry fee is due on-site on October 11th.
League Format: Indoor Women's 5-1 This is a standard women's 6-on-6 volleyball tournament with one Significant Exception: Teams may choose to employ a SETTER of EITHER GENDER if they run a 5-1 setting rotation. If the setter is male, he may only set and play defense. He may NOT block, hit or jump-serve. If the male player causes a ball to go over the net, that ball must have an upward trajectory when it leaves his hand(s) (similar to the reverse-coed rule).
The rationale behind this exception is that good setters are hard to come by. At the same time, good setting can elevate the level of the game. Therefore, by opening up the setting position to both genders, teams will have a larger pool of skilled setters to choose from.
Free Agents (Individuals Without a Team): Individuals without a team may sign up for the Free Agent Wait-List. Please indicate which league you’d like to join. Please also provide your height, your preferred position(s) and some information about your volleyball background, experience and skill level. We will try to find an appropriate team to place you on.
League Duration: This mini-league will take place on four Sundays (10/11, 10/18, 10/25 and 11/1). .
Game Times: The league runs from 12:30pm - 5:00pm each Sunday. You will be required to officiate games during the rounds when you are not playing.
Registration Fee for 4-Week League:
Early Team Entry Fee: $288 (sign up by Tues 10/6 to get the early registration rate)
Regular Team Entry Fee: $308 (regular registration rate applies after Tues 10/6)
NOTE: Teams must pay an extra $5 for each additional player on their roster beyond the first 6. Our insurance premium is based on the total number of participants.

LEAGUE CANCELLATION POLICY: Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the league at our sole discretion. In the event of cancellation, teams currently registered at that time will receive a pro-rated refund of the fees paid. The tournament may be cancelled for various reasons including, but not limited to: inclement weather; unavailability of the facilities/site for the tournament; inadequate number of entries; schedule conflicts of the tournament organizer; etc. In the unlikely event of a tournament cancellation, notification will be sent via email.
IMPORTANT NOTE: IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN AN ASSUMPTION OF RISKS / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY / INDEMNITY / BINDING ARBITRATION / WAIVER OF STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AGREEMENT (BEFORE YOU START PLAYING). Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to see this Agreement before the day of the tournament. A Junior Player must be 14-17 years-old and must have a signed parental consent / waiver form.

NOTE: If you cancel after a spot has been reserved for you, you will only receive a full refund if you cancel at least 7-days ahead of the league's start date. If you cancel less than 7-days ahead of the league's start date, you will receive a refund less a $20 administration fee IF AND ONLY IF the league is full (i.e. sold out) AND we are able to find a team to replace your team.
