What is Reverse-Coed?
Reverse-coed games are played on a women's height net. Women play as usual - hitting and blocking at the net. Men, however, must hit from behind the 10-foot-line and may never block. This format levels the playing field - making the game fun for both men and women. Click here for Reverse-Coed Doubles Rules.
What is VBmatch Survivor?
VBmatch Survivor is a very fun, social and competitive format with lots of opportunity to meet and play with other volleyball players!
VBmatch Survivor is a HYBRID Unisex Reverse-Coed 2s and 4s format. You sign up as a pair with a partner of any gender. That person will be your permanent partner for the day. Some pool-play games will feature 2-on-2 competition where you and your partner play doubles against another pair. Other pool-play games will feature 4-on-4 competition where another randomly selected pair will become your teammates (the other pair is randomly selected and changes for each pool-play quads game).
All players advance to playoffs. Your pool-play results (with your partner) determine your ranking as a pair for playoffs. The first part of playoffs will be Reverse-Coed 4s Competition. Quad teams are formed by pair selection, starting with the #1 ranked pair who may choose any other pair including the #2 pair. The selection process goes down the list from there: the next highest ranked pair that has not been picked then chooses their teammates and so on.
Single-Elimination Reverse-Coed 4s competition is played until there are only a few quad teams left. At that point, the quad teams revert back to their original pairs; former teammates must now play against each other in Reverse-Coed 2s Competition. Thus, it would be unwise to choose a pair that is stronger than you -- while they may carry you through the quads competition, they will likely eliminate you in the first round of doubles competition. Single-Elimination Reverse-Coed 2s competition will be used to determine the sole surviving pair - the winners of the VBmatch Survivor Tournament.
Everyone will be scheduled for a minimum of 4 pool-play (round-robin) games. Everyone will advance to playoffs.
Playoff Winners (the last surviving pair of VBmatch Survivor) will be awarded prizes.
NOTE: For the September 27th Tournament, a PAIR for the VBmatch Survivor Format may comprise of a male/female pair, two female players or two male players.
