VBmatch X-Mas Indoor Tournament Optional Semi-Random-Draw Unisex Reverse-Coed 4s Sun day December 27, 2009 Check-In: 10:00am Alameda High School Official School Address: 2201 Encinal Avenue Alameda, CA 94501 GYM Address: 1329 Oak Street Alameda, CA 94501 INDIVIDUALS: Sign up for the Free Agent Wait List VBmatch and Alameda High School will co-host an indoor volleyball tournament on December 27th (Sunday) as a fundraiser for Alameda High's Volleyball Program. The tournament format will be Optional Semi-Random-Draw Unisex Reverse-Coed 4s. There are two ways to sign up for this tournament: (1) Sign up as a complete Quads Team (any combination of 4 male/female players) (2) Sign up as a pair with ONE Partner (of either gender). Reverse-Coed is where teams compete on a women's net, with women hitting and blocking at the net and men hitting from the 10-foot-line and never blocking. Semi-Random-Draw means that even though this is a quads (4 vs 4) tournament, you may sign up with just one partner as a "pair." The other two persons on your team will be randomly selected and will change for each pool-play match. The "semi-random-draw" format is optional, so you may also choose to register as a complete team of 4 players. "Unisex" means "gender-blind" or "not distinguished based on sex."   In other words, pairs can comprise of two men, two women or a male and a female. Teams may have any combination of 4 male/female players. Again you may register as a complete team or you may register with just ONE (1) Partner (of either gender) to play in this tournament. Everyone is scheduled to play a minimum of 4 pool-play games. Each team or pair's pool-play record is tracked and provides the basis for the team/pair's ranking. Everyone advances to playoffs. How Are Playoff Teams Formed? After pool-play, each pair's ranking will be determined by that pair's win/loss and total-point record from pool-play. The playoff teams will then be formed by players' choices, starting with the highest-ranked pair. The #1 pair may pick any pair (including the #2 pair) to be their permanent playoff teammates . After the #1 pair decides, the next-highest-ranked pair* that has not been picked will choose their teammates, and so on. (*If the #1 pair chooses the #2 pair, then the next-highest-ranked pair that has not been picked is the #3 pair). NOTE: Players that registered as a complete team will continue playing as a team. Sign up by Wednesday December 23rd to get the early pre-registration rate of $23-per-player. Thereafter, the regular pre-registration rate is $26-per-player. A Restaurant Gift Certificate will be awarded to the winning team of 4 players (2x $25 Gift Certificates; $50 total value for the team). You are NOT officially registered until you receive a confirmation email from us. TOURNAMENT CANCELLATION POLICY: Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the tournament at our sole discretion. In the event of cancellation, all players currently registered at that time will receive a full refund of the fees paid. The tournament may be canceled for various reasons including, but not limited to: inclement weather; unavailability of the facilities/site for the tournament; inadequate number of entries; schedule conflicts of the tournament organizer; etc. In the unlikely event of a tournament cancellation, notification will be sent via email. IMPORTANT NOTE: IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN AN ASSUMPTION OF RISKS / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY / INDEMNITY / BINDING ARBITRATION / WAIVER OF STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AGREEMENT ON THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT (BEFORE YOU START PLAYING).
